St Joseph’s has had a big focus on Maths over the last few years. In 2017, we are continuing to encourage our students to approach Mathematics activities in an enthusiastic manner. In 2016, our school won an international online maths competition run by MangaHigh for students in Australia and New Zealand, this was a very proud moment for our students and teachers. We are lucky to have a wide selection of hands on resources for our students to use in their learning. They also enjoy online resources such as Mathletics and MangaHigh.
Semester One Enrichment Task
The enrichment focus for Semester One is Numeracy. The students are working on a task that requires them to design and build a 3D city using grids and nets.
2017 Maths Competitions
Our students are eager participants in Mathematics competitions. They are always striving to achieve their best and enjoy themselves while they are doing it. Over the year our students will be participating the following competitions:
Australian Mathematics Trust Competition July 27th
This is open for all students from Year Three to Year Six. We have had large numbers participate in this competition in previous years and we are looking forward to having another large cohort participate again this year!
Have Sum Fun Online Competition August 7th-August 25th
This competition is for students from Years 3-6 who are nominated by their teachers. They work in a small group and complete online activities each week. It is a fun and exciting way for them to show their school spirit as they work through the tasks together.
